After a long gestation Alfa Romeo has finally announced pricing of its eagerly-awaited 4C sports coupe.
A base price of $89,000 (plus on-road costs) places the Alfa Romeo 4C above the entry point for the similarly mid-engine, lightweight (but open-air) Lotus Elise (starting from $69,990, though the Elise 111S is a closer rival at $84,990). It does significantly undercut the Porsche Cayman, however, the Stuttgart Coupe commencing at $111,590.
Additionally Australia will receive 75 (of 1300 worldwide) ‘Launch Edition’ 4Cs which offer improved specification from a starting price of $109,000 plus on-roads.
Both versions of the Alfa Romeo 4C sport the all-alloy, 177kW/350Nm, 1.75-litre turbocharged four-cylinder power-plant mounted amidships and hooked up to a dual-clutch transmission.
The Alfa Romeo 4C Launch Edition gains extended carbon fibre trims including rear spoiler and mirror caps, 18-inch front and 19-inch rear alloys in matte black, ‘racing’ exhaust and specific tuning to the suspension, set with track work in mind.
Customer deliveries of the Alfa Romeo 4C Coupe are expected from February.
