Peugeot Australia has announced that it will offer the final 40 examples of its swoopy RCZ sports coupe for $49,990 driveaway.

Importer Sime Darby says this will save customers around $14,000 once driveaway benefits are considered.

The RCZ’s double-bubble roof styling has been little seen on Australian roads since its launch in 2010.

Powered by a 147kW/275Nm 1.6-litre turbo-petrol or (even rarer) 120kW/340Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel, the front-drive sports car impresses as a driver’s car without being outstanding. Either engine can be had with a six-speed manual, with automatic optional on the former… if you’re prepared to drop outputs to 115kW/240Nm in the process.

The last 40 RCZ are well specified, with sat-nav, dual-zone climate control, leather-appointed electric front seats, auto headlights and 19-inch alloys with 235/40 section rubber.

Sadly, this offer excludes the hardcore RCZ R with its mechanical LSD and hyper-boosted 199kW 1.6.
