A video has emerged of the new Lotus 3-Eleven as it makes its first public outing. Lotus conducted a two-week test at the world-renowned Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit. The The Lotus 3-Eleven Race version covered over 2,000kms as part of a testing and development program.

The track-ready prototype was tuned specifically for the fearsome Nordschleife circuit. It’s 3.5-litre V6 is capable of 343kW and has a dry weight of only 890kg. The car’s incredible power-to-weight ratio allows it to travel from 0-100km/h in 2.9 seconds.

“We launched the 3-Eleven at Goodwood, it was a great success. Then we built our prototype car and we’ve now got the car ready for the testing process here at the Nurburgring.” Said Gavan Kershaw – Technical Manager for Lotus Motorspor

FIA GT1 World Champion Marc Basseng piloted the 3-Eleven over the two weeks of testing. The German-born driver has a plethora of racing achievements including setting the lap record in a Pagani Zonda R on the Nurburgring circuit.

“The car is so different from any other Lotus that you need to be able to benchmark that against the industry and Marc has experienced thousands of laps around here so he gives us a clear indication.” Kershaw explained.

Unfortunately Lotus is yet to release any lap-time information, but for now, enjoy the sights and sounds of the menacing Lotus 3-Eleven Race Version.
