Following on from BMW’s recent M5 Pure announcement comes details of two special-edition M5 flagships, the Nighthawk and White Shadow.
Limited to just 10 units of each, both M5 Nighthawk and M5 White Shadow are priced from $235,930 and available now.
Unlike the M5 Pure the Competition Package, which is incidentally fitted to the regular M5 anyway, is standard.
For M5 Nighthawk you have the option of matte ‘Frozen’ black paintwork or a black metallic if you’re into something a little more traditional.
Opt for the White Shadow and those options revert to a white matte or metallic.
Both otherwise share the same features, with carbon fibre trim for the external mirror caps, interior finishers and shift knob for the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. It’s the first time the carbon trims have been offered on M5.
Other standard equipment includes black 20-inch light alloy road wheels, Bang and Olufsen premium sound and a tyre pressure monitor.
Full Merino leather interior upholstery, including to the dash top, as well as four-zone climate control, M multifunctional seats for both driver and front passenger, a glass electric sunroof, TV function and alcantara roof lining finish off the standard equipment additions.
With BMW’s Competition Package enhancing the 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 to 423kW and 680Nm, there’s still a lot for the rear tyres to deal with; even after the stability and traction sytems, along with the Active M Differential, have been recalibrated to suit.
We’ll be jumping behind the wheel of an M5 Competition Pack shortly, so stay tuned for the Trailing Throttle verdict.
