The 2016 Lexus GS 200t has been unveiled, and will arrive in Australia before the end of the year.
Lexus took the covers off its new GS 200t at Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance. The new sedan will replace the previous GS 250, to fit in line with the RX 200t SUV, the smaller NX 200t SUV and the IS 200t mid-size sedan. It also joins the sporty RC 200t we’ve previously detailed.
As its name suggests, the GS 200t will be equipped with a turbocharged, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine as opposed to the GS 250’s 2.5-litre six-cylinder power plant. The new model will deliver 180kW of power and 350Nm of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission will manage the power, and send it to the rear wheels.
Minor exterior changes have been made on the new Lexus including a restyled front and rear, a spindle grille, Bi-LED headlights and revised tail lamps.
Inside is a 4.2-inch multi-information display which ‘puts vital vehicle data at a quick glance in driver’s line of sight’. Within the car’s cabin you will also find an analogue clock with GPS time zone functionality, an upgraded multimedia system that has full screen map capability on the 12.3-inch central display screen and depending on the buyer’s choice, wood or aluminium interior styling.
Lexus’s standard Safety System in incorporated; this includes a Pre-Collision System, Lane Keeping Assist, Intelligent High Beam and All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.
“LX 570 and the new GS Line including GS 200t continue Lexus’ product-led strategy, delivering with confident new styling, performance, technology and luxury features,” Said Sean Hanley, Chief Executive of Lexus Australia.
“We look forward to introducing these new models to the Australian market in December.” Pricing will be revealed as that date approaches.
