Sidchrome Extreme Rallycross, the latest Australian motorsport event, has announced Hankook as its tyre partner for the next three seasons.

Every Extreme Rallycross car will use the same 17-inch tyre, a Hankook Ventus Z213, sized exclusively at 200/625R17. The tyre is FIA-approved and is specifically designed for the changing terrains in Extreme Rallycross.

“We needed something that could cope with both tarmac and dirt, but also jumps, so we chose what Hankook uses for ‘intermediate’ conditions in the WRC, but also something that will add to the spectacle of Extreme Rallycross,” said Dean Evans, Hankook Tyre Australia Motorsport Manager.

Rallycross is rapidly growing in popularity globally, with heroes such as Sebastian Loeb, Ken Block and Travis Pastrana taking part. Combining the best aspects of both traditional circuit racing and stage rallying, this new competition is set to be one of the ‘most exciting motorsport categories to launch in Australia for some time’.

Hankook will provide the tyres to the teams and benefit from bold Hankook branding on all vehicles, along with on-event promotion.

“This is the kind of spectacle Australian motorsport needs,” explained Evans. “Rallycross is undoubtedly the next big thing in global motorsport, and now that we have an Australian version, Hankook wanted to be a part of it from the start – and we had the right tyre to support it.”
