Mercedes has revealed a coupé concept of their SUV, and it’s more than just a far-sighted teaser. Due for official launch in September this year (Frankfurt, Germany), Mercedes concept GLC Coupé shows-off styling cues we can expect on the production version.

The rear-end of the four-door has seen most removal of the sculptures clay, with a stout, muscular pinch accentuating its coupé genetics. GLC’s two-metre wide body sits high over 21-inch alloys wrapped with 285/45 rubber, the large footprint providing practical traction for considerable grunt.

Under the hood sits a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine producing 270kW and 520Nm of power to all four wheels, via a 9G-TRONIC gearbox.

Although not the production vehicle, the concept GLC Coupé shows styling and power that will provide good competition to BMW’s X6, and we look forward to comparing its performance when launched locally in November.

For now, we’ll let the gallery do the talking.
